Head Coach: Derek Leininger - 4th year at Snider
Derek Leininger enters his fourth year as head coach of the Snider boys cross country program and this will be his second year as head coach of the girls program. Leininger ran cross country and track all four years at Columbia City High School, where he was a state medalist and school record holder in the 800 meter run. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Indiana University (IPFW campus), where he graduated 2007. This fall Leininger will be entering his 7th year coaching cross country. He coached at East Noble HS and Concordia Lutheran HS prior to becoming the head coach at Snider. Leininger teaches social studies at Northrop High School. He resides in Fort Wayne with his wife Gwen.

Assistant Head Coach: Brad Altevogt - 4th year
Brad Altevogt enters his fourth season coaching within the Snider cross country program. Altevogt is a graduate of North Side High School, where he ran cross country and track during the great American distance running boom of the early 70’s. He resides in Fort Wayne with his wife Margo. His two children are Snider graduates and track and cross country runners. Colin is a student at Franklin College, and Lynn is a student at the University of Saint Francis. Altevogt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Indiana University, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Indiana University. Professionally, he is Vice President of Administration for Park Center, Inc. in Fort Wayne. He is also President of Three Rivers Running Company, Inc., a running specialty store in Fort Wayne. He coaches the boys and girls 1600 meter and 3200 meter runners in track. Altevogt is actively involved in competitive road racing, generally running 16 to 20 races per year in distances ranging from 5K to the half-marathon.

Assistant Coach: Sally Godfrey - 3rd year
Sally Godfrey starts her third year coaching the Snider cross country teams this season. Godfrey was an all-conference runner in cross country at Snider High School. She is a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English and is certified to teach grades 5 through 12. Godfrey has 16 years of coaching experience. She was the head girls cross country coach at Northrop High School from 1995-1998 and has been the distance track coach at Blackhawk Middle School since 1996. She currently teaches 8th grade language arts at Blackhawk Middle School. She resides in Fort Wayne with her husband John and her two twin daughters.

Assistant Coach: Perry Childs - 1st year
Perry Childs is about to begin his first year coaching within the Snider cross country program. Childs ran cross country and track at Churubusco High School, where he was a school record holder. He went on to run for Anderson University, a strong distance school for D-III cross country and track. He graduated from Anderson with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and he was also a Computer Science minor. He currently resides in Churubusco and is going to be taking courses at IPFW this fall to pursue graduate school.

Assistant Coach: Kyle Carey - 1st year
Kyle Carey is about to begin his first year coaching within the Snider cross country program. Kyle ran cross country at track for Pendleton Heights High School, where he finished 4th in the State Meet in the 1600 meter run. Carey went on to run for Anderson University, where he continued to excel in both cross country and track. For the past two years Kyle has been the head boys and girls cross country coach at Shenandoah High School in central Indiana. He has a teaching degree and recently moved to Fort Wayne.

Assistant Coach: Alex Clore - 1st year
Alex Clore is about to begin his first year coaching within the Snider cross country program. Alex ran cross country and track at Snider HS, where he was the 2008 Snider Cross country Mental Attitude winner. Alex also competed in the 2008 IHSAA State Track & Field Championships for Snider in the 4x800 Relay team, where he and the relay team placed 13th in Indiana. Alex is currently attending IPFW and he resides in Fort Wayne.
